Hi! It’s been a while, huh? It seemed like now was as good a time as any to get back to writing here. It’s been a long time, and some things about my life are wildly different than they were when I last wrote and some are exactly the same. It feels fitting that I’m back linking up with Anne at the blog In Residence for my favorite series, Currently.

SHARING //

my thoughts + feelings with people more these days. And I guess a more intimate look at my life with my coworkers, who now see a portion of my bedroom every morning on our daily video calls.

WRITING //

in my journal as often as I feel like. I’ve felt like I needed a project for this quarantine, not because of any need for productivity, but because I like having a purpose and something that carries on from day to day. I’m doing it for my own record of these days and to give myself a place for my thoughts and feelings. I think with everything being so up and down, it’s important to get it out.

WISHING //

that I could be home with my family. It’s so hard being so far away from them at a time like this. There’s no way I could get back home and I don’t think it would be right for me to leave even if I could. I also know that being back in Boston wouldn’t actually fix anything; it would just make me feel better to be closer to my family.

INVESTIGATING //

what the heck is going on with this Tiger King show on Netflix? Not actually, but… who allowed this show to be made and how is every episode crazier than the last? I recommend knowing as little about it as possible going into it, since you truly won’t believe any of it anyway, but you should know it’s not for the faint of heart: there’s a lot of animal abuse and violence.

BUYING //

On my Trader Joe’s trip last week I bought the beautiful hydrangeas in the photo above and they’ve held up! It is very nice to have flowers in the house. Beyond that, nothing but groceries at the moment. I ordered one book online from a local bookstore because I wanted it and I wanted to support them, but I’m trying very hard to not add to the the huge number of packages being delivered at the moment. Not trying to take any kind of moral high ground, it’s just that I don’t really need anything at all and I think it’s better if I don’t spend money at this time.

Wait so are you not a fan of Tiger King?! And I’m so sorry you can’t be home with your family!! That’s so tough!

I’m with you – not against people ordering things right now, but I’m trying to avoid too much of it, to not contribute to these high shipping volumes when it’s not stuff I NEED. A couple of books did manage to make it into the “need” category for me though, I admit – especially for this now constant 6-year-old companion I have here who needs to be occupied… I can imagine it is hard being across the country from your family right now – I hope you still get to feel a good connection through video calls and such. I live only 10 minutes away from my parents, but actually all we’re doing with them is video calls right now too – it’s so weird, but it does feel like the safest thing! And meanwhile I also appreciate already being part of an online community like this, as it’s a great sense of connection and is already virtual anyway! So, thanks for linking up and being part of it 🙂 Hang in there!

Ha, I’m working from home now too and even though I have a desk in my bedroom, I moved my “workspace” to my dining room table because I didn’t want my coworkers seeing my bed! I had no idea what Tiger King was other than there were memes all over my social media feeds so I finally sat down and watched it… and only made it through one episode. Still think Carole killed her husband though! I’m with you on trying to buy less too, besides groceries. My wallet is much happier! Hope you’re doing well 🙂
