I’m linking up with Anne at the blog In Residence this month, as I’ve done so many times in the past. Here’s what I’m up to this month:

picking… up a writing habit again. I started plotting a novel that I’ve been loosely dreaming up since January. I feel ready to go full steam ahead on it. I’m very, very excited and I can’t wait to get out of the plotting and outlining stage to actually start writing. I’m hoping to finish the first draft by Thanksgiving. Ambitious, but I’ve always worked better with a goal.

going… to be home in Boston for the next week. I flew in last night. It’s the first time I’ve been here in almost a year. Based on 24 hours of being home, I finally feel like I’ve achieved the balance of blending the two parts of my life together. In the past, it was always very weird and somewhat uncomfortable to come home, but now it finally feels normal.

wishing… that I could redo a few things, but that’s not possible so instead I’m wishing for a good summer where I get to do things I love and reclaim some of the spark I feel like I’ve been missing.

wearing… clothes that are too warm for the climate I’m currently in! Based on the weather forecast in Boston I didn’t think I’d need shorts, but I might need to go on a shopping trip for a pair. It’s very humid here and the jeans I can wear at the same temperature in LA (which is a desert) are far too heavy.

celebrating… my sister’s high school graduation, which is why I came home in the first place. The Harte kids are officially out of the high school years! Also celebrating Pride Month, which is always fun.

What are you up to this month?

Ah, summer is such a good time for reclaiming spark in life – I hope you have a good one! And so fun to be at those big family events, though I always find it a little surreal when it’s little siblings growing up. My baby brother is getting married next weekend, and it’s still a little crazy to me!

Good luck with your novel! I’m someone who likes having a goal in mind as well; helps me focus when there’s a lot of distractions 🙂
