I first heard of Picture This in the summer of 2017, when my Irish cousin told me that I needed to check them out. The band, who are from Ireland themselves, started as a duo. I loved their music and when I found out that they were coming to LA in the fall of 2017, I bought a ticket.
They ended up cancelling that tour, but I got to see them at the Moroccan Lounge in December 2018. Over a year later, it was awesome to get to see them. Two more guys have joined the band, and the music they’ve released since has become more pop rock-y. When I saw them in December it was actually the first day of my current job and I went to the concert by myself. I got a drink and hung out on the side of the stage in the tiny venue, enjoying the music and trying not to feel self-conscious about the fact that I was at the show by myself. (Spoiler: literally no one cares.)
A week after I saw them that first time, they announced that they were coming back to play their second album, which released this February. This time, they were playing the Troubadour, one of my favorite venues. I bought a ticket immediately, and a few weeks later I bought Bri a ticket and told her that she was coming with me.
The venue this time was a little bigger and the music was newer, but I still remembered every word. Since I moved to LA, I’ve been to what feels like a million concerts, and I’ve liked all of them in different ways and for different reasons. I liked this one because their music is fun to sing along to and any concert where the singer waves an Irish flag makes me happy.
